On 26 April an arctic fox (Vulpes lagopus) was killed in an encounter with a domestic dog on a station on
the Island of Svalbard off the northern coast of mainland Norway. The animal was submitted for
rabies diagnosis to the Veterinary Institute in Oslo, where brain sample tested positive both in FAT
and RT-PCR on 03 May 2018.

After a bat tested positive for rabies CDC by opening channels usually reserved for infectious disease
emergencies successfully tracked down two Swiss tourists, who rescued the animal and brought it to a
veterinary clinic in Florida, for post-exposure treatment.

an infected bat he found in bucket.
Suspect human rabies case in France: child got infected in Sri Lanka
According to media reports rabies was diagnosed in a ten year old child in France some days ago.
The public health authorities of the department Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes in Lyon stated last Tuesday that
the boy was bitten by a dog in Sri Lanka in August this year while on vacation with his parents
and is fighting for his life.
